Experience the most delectable food on this small group walking tour through North America’s oldest Chinatown. Discover intricately designed temples glowing at night and strings of red lanterns hanging above the alleyways as you uncover San Francisco’s Chinese American heritage.
Opening in 1924, the first stop of the tour will be an iconic Chinese bakery where you’ll tuck into delicious moon cakes before moving onto more treats at other Chinatown bakeries. You’ll get to enjoy a variety of tea tastings at a wonderful local spot, learn Chinese customs regarding tea ceremonies and the health benefits of the tea leaves you taste.
Experience the lively energy of the Stockton Street markets, the heart of Chinatown, as your local guide tells you more about the history of the area and the many restaurants and bakeries that have been owned by the same families since the early 1900s.
Savour everything from BBQ Pork Buns, Sui Mai, Rice Cakes, Shrimp Dumplings, Dim Sum, onion pancakes, Shanghai Dumplings and more. In addition to the many samples, this tour also includes a sit down at a favourite local spot. Expect Peking Duck, potstickers, sesame balls and of course, tea.
A visit to Chinatown wouldn’t be complete without seeing the landmark Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory. Opening in 1962, you’ll get to go inside and taste the freshly baked cookies firsthand and meet the people behind this famous establishment.
